How do I request a second opinion? This is a simple process, which is done in three rapid steps.

I - First select which Second Opinion service you wish to receive from Cancer Consultants.

• Medical evaluation: Study of your case and evaluation of the prognosis and standard and research treatment alternatives. Price: €300 ($380)
• Diagnostic evaluation: Request, analysis and revision of the diagnosis from your sample or tumoural biopsy. Price: €300 ($380)
• Complete evaluation (medical plus diagnosis): Revision of the diagnosis of the tumoural biopsy and evaluation of the tumour and the treatment: €500 ($635)
• Free evaluation: If you cannot afford this service you would be exempt from payment, provided you prove this by sending us some form of justifying document, either by fax or by post.

II - Next, you will see a web form where you should give us your most relevant medical information. If you are requesting a revision of the histopathological diagnosis (revision of the biopsies or tumour samples), you should also complete the corresponding form so that we can request the samples of the cancerous tissue from your hospital. This form is included with the request.

In addition, all of the medical reports, documents (including, if applicable, the completed form requesting your tumour samples), medical test results, etc. which you have available, should be sent to us at:

III - Finally, indicate your chosen method of payment. If you wish, you can make your payment over the internet in a secure transaction, using your credit card or bank transfer. This payment must be made in advance. Remember, however, that if you cannot afford this service you would be exempt from payment, provided you prove this by sending us some form of justifying document, either by fax or by post, and that we have funds available in the FUSEON Foundation (Foundation for Second Opinion in Oncology) to cover the costs.

IV- Once payment has been received, our staff will evaluate the preliminary clinical details from the web form and send the case to the appropriate specialist consultant for evaluation.

• Once the medical reports sent by the patient have been received by post, the specialist will review the case and then give his expert documented opinion with regards to the diagnosis, prognosis and treatment alternatives for the patient, including information about investigational as well as conventional treatments.
• This evaluation is reviewed by the medical directors of Cancer Consultants, to ensure that the information is easy to understand. A final medical report will then be compiled from the evaluation, including specific educational material for the patient in those cases where it is considered necessary.
• This report is sent to the patient, and, if he/she requests it, to the primary attending doctor for revision and discussion with the patient.

We estimate that we will send you our second opinion medical report within a period of 10 working days, to be counted from the moment all the information you send us by post is received at our Centre. See some examples.

V - Two weeks after sending the second opinion report, we will get in touch with you as a quality control measure regarding the patient's satisfaction.
